Hi, I am Karen.
My name is Karen van Ginkel and I live in the beautiful country of Portugal, together with my partner and our two young kids.
I am a certified Ayurvedic Nutrition & Lifestyle Coach, Massage Therapist and Yoga Teacher.
Yoga and Ayurveda have been a part of my life for over ten years, and after experiencing for myself what living according to these wisdoms can do for you mental and physical wellbeing, I felt the desire to share this. And what better than to follow my heart and dedicate my working life to help others. This is what truly brings me joy.
However, it was quite a path for me to find out what my deeper purpose was. After finishing my high school I didn't really know what to do. I studied Hotel Management, I worked as a fashion model in Italy and Spain, and then I studied some more. The last "western" study that is did was a masters degree in Economics from Nyenrode University. After starting to work in the field of business and finance I knew right away that this was not my path as well. Although i certainly enjoyed parts of it as well, I also experienced that it can be energy draining to spend so much time of your life doing something that doesn't give you deep inner joy.I always felt a bit lost, like I was living in a play. I knew there had to be something different to life, but nobody told me how to interpret these feeling or how to find out what was my path. I frequently sought for ways to escape the gap i felt inside of me. When i found Ayurveda, I found a way to reconnect with my inner wisdom and it made it feel natural and inevitable to make some changes in my life. I felt a sense of belonging and a true connection to the outer world again. And there is nothing I love to do more than introduce you to this ancient wisdom and help you to feel balanced and have a sense of belonging.
For me Ayurveda is all about aligning your life and your actions with your inner truth. We all know everything we need to know, we all have this source of inner wisdom inside of us. I like to visualise it as a round table of wise elderly women inside of my body. Ayurveda helps you to get in touch with this inner knowing again, it encourages you to recognise your nature and gives you practical tools to get started. This can be, and often starts through nutritional advice, lifestyle advice and maybe working with some herbal supplements. And when your body and mind are getting aligned with their blueprint again, your path will unfold itself more clearly.
What i love about ayurveda is that it is empowering. It places the responsibility of your wellbeing at the one and only person that can influence it; you! At the same time its principles are quite simple and can be learned and used by anyone. My mission to bring Ayurveda into your life in way that works for you.
Besides coaching, my big passion is hosting & cooking and bringing people together. That is why i feel very excited to be hosting several retreats in Portugal where this all comes together!
Currently i am studying for Ayurvedic Practitioner at Delight Academy in Amsterdam. I am also continuously deepening my knowledge and skills through ongoing studies in holistic healing and herbal medicines.
If you are wondering what a coaching session can do for you, don't hesitate to reach out. I am happy to answer your questions.
